This past winter I was suggested to work on a poster for The Postal Service, the Seattle based band whose electronic-rock LP "Give Up" has gained kind of a cult status after the band quickly decided to stop producing music, and even though they toured for a good 10 years after their first release, they eventually put down the instruments.
I really dug their music, it had something different, something poetic while not naive and their songs actually showed good concern about today's matters. Also they had that Shins connection which really meant something promising to me.
One of their last tour date happened at the 2013 Chicago Lollapalooza venue, in Grant Park, on August 3rd.
So I took this date and city to make my poster on this series where the building behind the car the band is using while touring is really from the concerned city and drew this beautiful building on West Kinzie Street and had fun putting together a UPS/ TPS (The Postal Service) delivery truck.
I also twisted a bit the Lollapalooza logo to make it a high-end store type one, while keeping its escalating letters from the original logo.
