Getting to know A Tribe Called Quest at a very young age was a blessing to me. Their music has travelled with me ever since. Anytime, anywhere. As an adult their music makes even more sense now, their unique jazzy / mellow beats have never sounded better. Lyrics to go…In every sense !
On December 25th 1990, A Tribe Called Quest performed alongside fellow artists Leaders Of The New School (Busta Rhymes' former crew) at the legendary indy space The Building, an event hosted by Dj Kid Capri.
The building, formerly a power station, was known to host some of the best indy events of the late 80s, where crews such as The Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Black Sheep amongst many others performed while you could step by non-others than Naomi Campbell or Mike Tyson alongside Guru of Gang Starr in the Crowd.
Chimneys are turned into jazz instruments, this is the idea behind this one. It meant a lot to me to actually come with an event that actually happened on this one. Kinda like re-inventing the original flyer/ poster.
