Following the good response I had on the Jay-Z "Story of O.J." print, I was asked if I were to ever do a Kanye West print and it very often came with the question of if I liked him or not…Well, I do like Kanye West, although definitely not a Kardashian type of people myself, and not that keen either on eccentricity/ stardom, I will admit I found the first 3 LPs of Mr West (and that Runaway wasn't too bad either actually) to be very good albums.
Very often I will actually think that Mr West took mainstream Hip Hop (usually very poor) to a next level of creativity. It showed in a lot of things that he was focused and a good connoisseur of the things he was doing. The Nike Yeezys are great sneakers for instance, he made it a statement of bringing old school silhouette with modern patterns.
And now the Graduation album cover and video for the Good Morning song proved that too. Who else in Hip Hop would have asked Mr Takashi Murakami to work on the LP's artwork and video? That's good taste right there.
So as I was figuring out which song would make a perfect print, I got to here Good Morning again and there it was. Always loved this song, how it makes such a great introduction / introspection to an album, amazing sample, length, everything.
So I worked with the elements from the video and made my own composition with lots of details. The subway train in the back, the clockwork, the Flashing Lights on the Dolorean plate (yes, Kanye was on that Back to The Future hype way before other rappers were), Mr Murakami's atomic mushrooms…
