It's been a while since I wanted to complete my Jazz (instruments) poster series with other artists I listen to on a daily basis but somehow I was feeling that because I used most of the instruments (or rather instruments I know of) on the series I couldn't, until a few days ago I watched the documentary by Swedish director Kasper Collin "I Called Him Morgan" (2016), I think it kinda gave me a purpose.
If you haven't seen it I highly recommend watching it, although probably not long enough, the documentary, told from a large part by Lee Morgan's ex-wife Helen Morgan, tells the story of one of the most brilliant trumpeter and his struggle through heroin addiction in the 50's and 60's era.
On the print I wanted 2 things, like I always do for my jazz instrument prints I wanted that the instrument be the one (in this case one of them, as the musician had to let go of some of his best instruments to support his unlucky habit) he was most recognized for, in this case a French Besson Brevete trumpet, and as for the colors I wanted something recognizable of the Blue Note label as most of Lee Morgan's LPs were recorded on the infamous jazz label, so I went with the blue & black.
