As an absolute Hieroglyphics Crew lover, which was founded by Del in the early 90s (with Souls of Mischief, Casual…), I was really eager to listen to Del and Dan The Automator's projects in the early 2000s. Although not too much on the internet back then, most of the time spent on it then was on the Hieroglyphics' site, and I was amongst the first ones to cop Deltron 3030 (which is in the plans for a future print) and the Gorillaz EPs, produced by Dan the Automator and cohorts.
Pop songs don't usually get my approval for a rapper feature, I don't find the genres to mingle that well. Now, when it's done with such magic and freshness like those delivered by Gorillaz and Del, I find my head spinning all around.
Graphically, the universe drawn by Jamie Hewlett is phenomenon, comics-inspired yet absolutely new to the genre.
I decided to create a print based on the video for Clint Eastwood that would sum up the whole story, with the flee of characters, the surprise, and a huge Del the Funkee Homosapien ghostly appearance.
