Most likely I was introduced to Michel Gondry by his crazy creative music videos, but I can't remember if it wasn't by Human Nature too. Apparently that movie didn't do it for most, but I actually liked it a lot. So it was without much knowledge of what I was about to see that I went to the movies to watch Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind. Mind blowing, and mind blown…literally.
Charlie Kauffman's synopsis for this movie is (almost) the type that everyone could come up with, but the twists make it one of the most intricate piece of cinema I've ever watched. Add to this the geographic snowy context, the absolute romance depicted by Jim Carrey and Kate WInslet and the roll-over plot, there is no wonder you get your money worth. Oh, and the soundtrack too. Beautiful.
I wanted to show the tragic aspect of break ups as the one in the movie is. People get to be strangers to each other, but the history remains. Memories are found beyond, but for some time they were your life and your little everyday wonders…
