Sometimes there is just so much you can do with a movie. Lost in Translation is one of them. I'd already done a print last year, focusing on one particular aspect of the movie (Bob having to choose a carpet sample from a range of burgundys, which reflected perfectly the movie's slogan "everyone wants to be found), but I read a very good article on the movie recently, that made me want to watch the movie again and eventually do another design.
The article talked about how the main characters, although finding themselves in a state of isolation which will lead them to this very shy romance, are actually in need of very different things. Charlotte is aiming for adventure, meeting people, going out basically, whereas Bob is saturated with people, kind of "mid life crisis" too, he'd rather find himself in solitude.
Which is why I choose these fairly symbolic images of the movie in which Bob is in the elevator surrounded by a crowd, while Charlotte is looking at the outside through the window.
